17. Stockfors Coffee Rosters 14.-22.12.

Introduction

We will be at the Helsinki Market 14-22 December

We are a small roastery based in Pyhtää, and we aim to improve the quality of life for everyone involved.

Coffee – We only use coffee carefully grown by small farmers. These farmers are compensated fairly for their work, so they can focus on quality over quantity. This also allows them to reduce their use of fertilizers and other land consuming inputs.

Roastery – When building the roastery, we considered how the roasting process itself and the packaging and other materials we use would fit with our values. Despite its small size, Pyhtää generates a relatively large amount of electricity from hydropower, the nearest of which is about 20 metres from the roastery. This is why the roaster we use is also electrically powered. Our packaging materials and tapes are suitable for paper waste. We also use pioneering cardboard disposable cups, which are completely plastic-free.

Coffee packets – Why plastic? To preserve the coffee, the coffee pack must be able to be hermetically sealed. Alternatives include paper, plastic,
metal and biomass coffee packets. However, they all have a plastic film inside and are easily thrown away with either energy waste or mixed waste. Our plastic packets are 100% recyclable and easy to separate from plastic waste. These packs come from Dutch Coffee Pack and are CO2 offset.

Stockfors Coffee Roasters strives to be completely transparent in its operations, and as a symbol of this, the roastery walls are also made of glass.
