21. CANDAVON

Introduction

The story of CANDAVON candles goes back almost thirty years, and they are still all made entirely by hand. Both the design and the make is the designer’s own, and a large proportion of the moulds are also handmade. The colours of the candles are also their own mixes, and the combinations of shades have been strongly influenced by living and working in the nearly extreme ends of Finland, in a wide range of colour schemes: from the glowing autumn shades of Lapland and the pastels of frost to the marine tones of the Åland archipelago.

The candles are made from high quality paraffin, olive stearin, soy and eco-olive waxes, the latter three being plant-based candle waxes. Also pure beeswax, which is a 100% natural product of its own kind, is used. The raw materials vary, but all are based on performance: the longest possible burn time, a mild enough fragrance (if any) and a calm flame that creates mood.

CANDAVON has been awarded the Key Flag label by the Association for Finnish Work.
